The Evolution of Manfred

I've been idling doodling character drawings of my boyfriend in some of my classes, trying to pin down a character design for him. Tonight I think I may have succeeded, somewhat. It's still not quite right, so I'll just keep at it.

The first was in Chemistry... he's German/Italian. Hence the German. And he has a pacman shirt. XD But this was totally a superficial drawing, and didn't represent his character at all. I was just going for general hotness.

The second was in Proseminar... which is why it was on lined legal paper. I can get rid of the lines on normal looseleaf, but legal paper's a bitch. So there are lines. This is why I have a rule about lined paper. I was trying to leave my regular paper at home so I WOULDN'T draw in class... but art finds a way. Anyway... this is a little closer to him. He juggles. XD But he told me that the placement of hands and balls is all wrong. I had no reference, and little exposure to the "art of juggling," so I'm otherwise pretty happy with it. But he looks more like Duncan Shiek sounds, more than anything. Not quite Manfred-y.

Yay. Finally. Tonight's drawing is much closer to him, and given the fact that I used some graphical references, it damn well better be. Or I'd be sad. There's a joke in choir about Manfred having far too many balls at any one time, so yeah. And I used a reference for the pose, so yay. I'm probably going to go ahead and ink this one, and colour it--he needs a LJ icon badly.
